Pioneering Excellence In Diving Solutions: Unique Group’s Commitment To Innovation
For over three decades, Unique Group has been at the forefront of designing and delivering subsea technologies and engineering by offering client-focused solutions across its six core divisions: Unmanned Surface Vessels (USVs), Survey Equipment, Buoyancy + Water Weights®️, Diving + Life Support, Lifting + Mooring, and Bespoke Engineering Solutions, through its latest acquisition of Subsea Innovation in the UK.With over 650 professionals across 18 locations worldwide, the company delivers innovative and reliable solutions for the oil and gas, renewable energy, defence, and offshore industries.

Diving Capabilities: Engineering Excellence
Unique Group’s expertise in diving technology extends across air, mixed-gas, and saturation diving systems (Surface, Portable, and DSV). The company designs and manufactures life support equipment, hyperbaric oxygen therapy chambers (HBOT), and defence diving systems. With an in-house research and development team, Unique Group continually refines its solutions to meet industry demands and certifications (IMCA, ABS, DNV), ensuring operational safety, efficiency, and compliance with international standards.
Hyperbaric Rescue Facility: A Case Study in Technical Innovation
A recent project demonstrates Unique Group’s capability in designing and delivering advanced life support solutions. The company successfully developed a 12-man Hyperbaric Reception Facility (HRF) and Life Support Package (LSP) for Oceaneering to support air and saturation diving operations for a field life extension project in Angola.
The client required a compact, modular HRF system capable of supporting safe manned diving operations at depths of up to 300 meters while adhering to stringent DNV and IMCA guidelines. The design needed to integrate multiple components seamlessly, ensuring ease of deployment and future adaptability.
Engineering and Design Approach
Unique Group’s Engineering team designed, engineered, and manufactured a state-of-the-art HRF system with modularity and safety as the core focus. The system included a 40ft DNV 2.7-1 chamber skid, featuring a 12-man Twin-lock HRF pressure vessel, SPHL support mechanisms, and interconnecting hoses and cables. The HRF chamber and life support container were designed and built to ensure safe manned diving pressures of up to 300 meters of seawater depth. The main lock (Lock 1) was a Diving Medical Advisory Council (DMAC) compliant facility equipped with berths, seating, a basin, and tiltable bunks for diver comfort. Lock 2 was a Transfer Under Pressure (TUP) facility with decontamination functions and ablution facilities.

Two 20ft DNV 2.7-1 support containers were provided, housing both the control room and a machinery area. The control container is partitioned into two sections, where one section houses the HRF control room and is fully fitted with the necessary LSS gas panels and electrical control and monitoring systems to ensure safe HRF operations and the other section is fitted with a workshop room.
The modular structure ensures adaptability for future modifications while maintaining safety and efficiency.
Benefits for the Client
The HRF system enhances operational safety and efficiency, with key advantages including:
Regulatory Compliance: Designed to meet DNV-OS-E402 and IMCA D053 standards.
Operational Flexibility: Modular design allows easy upgrades and deployment in different environments.
Enhanced Functionality: With dual-lock chambers and integrated SPHL and decontamination capabilities, the system provides comprehensive support for complex diving operations.
Versatility: The HRF system’s transportable skid and support containers ensure flexibility for diverse operational environments.
