Flexitallic Launches RIGFLEX™ Gaskets, Transforming Sealing Technology In The Oil & Gas Sector

Flexitallic, a global leader in innovative sealing solutions, has unveiled its latest product line, the RIGFLEX™ RJ and FP range of reverse integrity testing gaskets.

Tailored specifically for the upstream Oil & Gas and Petrochemical sectors, they are designed to reduce both costs and downtime whilst elevating safety standards.

The RIGFLEX™ gaskets represent a significant advancement in sealing technology, facilitating the integrity testing of newly assembled and tightened flanged connections without the need for complete system pressurisation. This is achieved through a high-pressure welded test pipe and threaded connection port, allowing direct assessment of connection integrity by introducing pressure into the annulus of the gasket, situated between the flange faces.

Once installed, they enable continuous monitoring and spot-testing of individual connections. This unique feature simplifies identification of leaking connections and significantly reduces the need for unplanned remedial work.

RIGFLEX™ gaskets not only enhance safety standards but decrease operational costs. By facilitating easy identification of leaks and enabling continuous monitoring, they  help prevent unplanned shutdowns and costly repairs while their design allows for quick and straightforward testing.

Traditional integrity testing methods often require extensive resources, including costly equipment, large volumes of test gas like nitrogen, and dedicated teams of personnel. In contrast, RIGFLEX™ gaskets streamline the entire process, allowing a single person to conduct efficient and effective testing. This reduction in resource demand translates into substantial cost savings and improved operational efficiency.

The RIGFLEX™ RJ is a precision-machined octagonal Ring Type Joint (RTJ), specifically designed for ASME B16.5 RTJ connections. The RIGFLEX™ FP features a grooved core with dual Kammprofile elements on opposite sides of the gasket, faced with Corriculite™, a filler material specifically designed by Flexitallic for use in corrosion-sensitive environments, such as seawater and hydrocarbon services.

This configuration enhances tightness and mitigates the risk of flange face corrosion, operating effectively within a temperature range of -200ºC to +260ºC. Available in sizes ranging from ½” to 24” Nominal Pipe Size, these gaskets also come equipped with a fire-safe high-pressure cap. All pressure-containing components, test pipes, connectors, and welds undergo thorough pressure testing, with each gasket accompanied by a pressure test certificate.

Flexitallic’s Aberdeen branch, located in the heart of the UK’s oil capital, plays a crucial role in supporting the North Sea oil and gas sector. It has rapidly expanded its stocks of RIGFLEX™ ready to meet the immediate demands of the industry, together with the high-pressure ring-type joint gaskets which are mostly used within the Aberdeen market

Adam Atkinson, Flexitallic UK’s National Sales Manager, said: “The introduction of our new RIGFLEX™ range reflects Flexitallic’s unwavering commitment to innovation, efficiency, and safety. Our focus on delivering high-quality sealing solutions remains steadfast. These cost-effective gaskets are set to make a substantial positive impact across multiple sectors, offering reliable performance without compromising on quality.”
